Visit to EAA 67

President Jane Craney Weaver and Vice President Tim Porter took the Indianapolis Aero Club on the road to Noblesville’s EAA chapter 67 last Monday evening. There, they met an enthusiastic group of all ages, and our officers noted the youthful nature of the chapter’s members.

Many of us remember teachers who were also some of our first mentors. Mentorship is why so many youthful faces populate EAA 67 in Noblesville. One of their teachers is also an ardent pilot who shares her experiences with her students. It’s good to know that there are still mentors willing to give of themselves for the betterment of others.

Many aviation organizations are in the Indy area, but we are not talking to each other. That’s why our officers took the club on the road; we want the IAC to become the FRONT PORCH of aviation in Central Indiana. Let’s get to know each other.

The Indy Aero Club renaissance is a team effort. We also want to recognize Board member Fred Fritz, who got us invited to the EAA Chapter 67 meeting, and our esteemed treasurer Ken Yale, who supported the club’s outreach efforts by attending the meeting.

EAA Chapter 67 Christmas Party Monday, December 6, 2021 We will have the Chapter 67 Christmas Party in the Stearman Hanger at the Noblesville Airport on Monday, December 6, 2021. A social hour will start at 6:00 PM with the meal starting at 7:00 PM. Visit http://www.eaa67.org/ if you need directions. The Chapter will provide the main course of ham and turkey. We ask that you bring a side dish or desert. INDIANAPOLIS AERO CLUB 2013 AVIATION CAMP SCHOLARSHIP

The Indianapolis AERO Club will be awarding two scholarships during the summer of 2013 for students who think they may be interested in Aeronautical Engineering. One scholarship will be awarded for one of the two sessions at the EAA Air Academy at Oshkosh, WI (July 23-31 or Aug 2-10, 2013) (world’s greatest fly-in) and one scholarship will be awarded for one of the several sessions during the summer of 2013 at the U.S. Space and Rocket Center at Huntsville, AL. These scholarships include all food and lodging costs of the aviation camps. Transportation to and from the camps is the responsibility of the winning candidate’s parents. Either scholarship winning candidate, whether it be at Oshkosh or Huntsville will be exposed to the wonders of the field of Aeronautics and will begin to understand the importance of quick, sound decision making.

2010 AVIATION CAMP SCHOLARSHIP

The Indianapolis AERO Club will be awarding one EAA aviation camp scholarship for the summer of 2010. The EAA Air Academy sponsored camp will be held in two sessions (July 20-28, 2010 and July 30-Aug10, 2010) at Oshkosh, WI., which overlap the world’s largest fly-in, the annual Oshkosh EAA “Airventure”. This scholarship includes all food and lodging costs of the aviation camp. Transportation to and from the camp is the responsibility of the winning candidate’s parents.

At camp the winning candidate can expect to learn:

• Fundamentals of flight
• Flight controls and systems
• Navigation and weather
• Flight training requirements
• Aircraft construction basics
• Hands-on techniques of builders
• Flight history
• Fly simulators
• Visit the EAA museum

The candidate may possibly even fly with an instructor.

Candidates must be 16-18 years old during the 2010 summer. The candidate should not have attended the aviation camp in any prior year. He or she must be in good health. The winning candidate will be selected based on three selection criteria:

1. Interest and existing experience in the field of aviation,
2. Recommendations from teachers, clergy, EAA members, etc.,
3. School course grades for the Aug-Dec 2009 semester and overall GPA.

Interested candidates should fill out the attached application form, be sure to include

1. A 1-2 page letter describing your background and interest in aviation,
2. At least two letters of recommendation (no family member references please),
3. Scholastic grade information.
