Spring Fly Out

It's Spring! Let's go flying! Our Fly Out will take place April 6. Sign up HERE, and we'll fly to Mattoon, IL and enjoy a great day of flying and a good meal together!  There's a way to ride along if you don't have your own airplane, so sign up - available seats are first come, first served.  MORE INFO IN THE POST BELOW!

April Dinner

Don’t forget our April meeting is Tuesday, 9 April, the day after the total eclipse, at MCL Cafeteria, 2370 W. 86th Street, Indy. Bob Wearley plans to speak on the (NAS) National Airspace and non-towered airports. Note that we said non-towered instead of uncontrolled. One sounds better to non-aviation people, but often they are the same thing. Bob was also chief pilot for Howard Hughes, so we might encourage him to reminisce. Bob also advocates for addiction recovery (drugs, not airplanes) and helped save the historic Smith Field in Fort Wayne.

Saturday Fly Out

Let's Do Lunch at Mattoon's Airport Steakhouse!

THIS SATURDAY, 6 APRIL 2024

Depart from various Indiana locations and meet in Mattoon at 12:00 Noon CDT.
Illinois is decades behind Indiana in many ways, but they are only an hour behind us this Saturday.
  • The weather looks good for Saturday. A big peninsula of high pressure should cover the area of operations.
  • Pilots depart at their own discretion.
  • Please let Captain Chance Martin know if you are flying and have seats available. Also, let Captain Martin know if you need a ride. We'll try to hook you up. (Sign up HERE)

Visit to EAA 67

President Jane Craney Weaver and Vice President Tim Porter took the Indianapolis Aero Club on the road to Noblesville’s EAA chapter 67 last Monday evening. There, they met an enthusiastic group of all ages, and our officers noted the youthful nature of the chapter’s members.

Many of us remember teachers who were also some of our first mentors. Mentorship is why so many youthful faces populate EAA 67 in Noblesville. One of their teachers is also an ardent pilot who shares her experiences with her students. It’s good to know that there are still mentors willing to give of themselves for the betterment of others.

Many aviation organizations are in the Indy area, but we are not talking to each other. That’s why our officers took the club on the road; we want the IAC to become the FRONT PORCH of aviation in Central Indiana. Let’s get to know each other.

The Indy Aero Club renaissance is a team effort. We also want to recognize Board member Fred Fritz, who got us invited to the EAA Chapter 67 meeting, and our esteemed treasurer Ken Yale, who supported the club’s outreach efforts by attending the meeting.
