Lt. Col. Ted J Kuhn - Nov. 13 speaker

LTC Ted J Kuhn is Squadron Commander of the 137th Intelligence Squadron stationed in Terre Haute, IN.  He will speak to us about the drones and other activities of this group.

Previously, he served as an A-6 and F/A-18 pilot in the Marine Corps before joining the IN ANG where he flew the F-16 prior to transitioning to the Intelligence Wing.  He has been a pilot for United Airlines since 1998, but has been on active duty orders since 2008.

We are looking forward to an interesting and educational meeting.

Brigadier General Cecil "Bud" Crabb - Oct 9th Speaker

General Crabb will talk to us about "Air Force Fighter Pilolts".  he is eminently qualified to do this considering his extensive service in the Air Force.

General Crabb was born in 1929 in Indianapolis, Ind., where he graduated from Shortridge High School in 1947. He has attended Butler University in Indianapolis, El Camino Junior College in Los Angeles, and Chaminade College in Honolulu. General Crabb graduated from the Air Command and Staff College in 1962 and the Air War College in 1968, both at Maxwell Air Force Base, Ala.

SEPTEMBER 11 MEETING: Two for the price of one

We have two speakers lined up for the September 11 meeting of the Indianapolis Aero Club.

Earl Anderson Jr and John Fleck will be the speakers for the September 11, 2012 Aero Club Meeting.  Both men are most qualified, dynamic and interesting speakers.

Earl Anderson, Jr. will talk about flying B-17s and B-24s.  His experiences include havng to bail out of a B-24 and the reception he got from the natives.  He will also tell us of his experiences as a POW.  Earl retired from the Allison Gas Turbine Division as Chief, Engineering Services.  He was a much decorated pilot and served in the Air Force Reserves.

John Fleck will tell us about teaching pilots how to fly in Stearmans and B-25s. John was active in the Air Force Reserves until a medical discharge in 1950. John is well know in the local Construction Industry as an accomplished architect.

Each will talk about 20 to 25 minutes.  This will be an outstanding meeting.

MAY 8 MEETING TO FEATURE AERO CLUB MEMBER BOB DUNCAN


Aero Club member, Bob Duncan will be our May Speaker and we will find out all the scoop on the 2012 Indy Air Show taking place at Indianapolis Regional  Airport June 23-24, 2012.

Headlining the show this year will be the US Air Force Thunderbirds, whose team members will thrill crowds with intricate aerobatics performed high above the airport.  Along with the Thunderbirds will be a wide range of exciting air show events, displays and activities— in the air as well as on the ground.

This year will be the 16th Annual Air Show and will be sponsored by Capitol City Ford.

The Indianapolis Air Show has raised nearly 1.5 million since its inception to benefit Riley Hospital for Children through the Central Indiana Community Foundation.  This year’s goal is $100,000
since its inception to benefit Riley Hospital for Children.

Bob Duncan is widely respected in the aviation community for his leadership of Indianapolis  Airport Authority over the years and his volunteer efforts ranging from Angel Flights to Chairman of the Indianapolis Air Show.

This promises to be a most entertaining and interesting meeting.  Come and bring a friend.
